The categorical noun â€Å"leadership† carries a very powerful meaning; moreover, its’ connotation is synonymous with: tenacity, authoritativeness, influence, effectiveness, hegemony, command, and in today’s society of organizational model jargon, clout. Throughout this paper two models of leadership will be epitomized: The Motivational and Groupthink models. The major theorists and their beliefs will help to solidify pertinent and philosophical characteristics related to each theorist’s justification and or groundwork. True Case Studies based on the work in which I am presently involved will also strengthen the model perspective in which I find works the best for me and my clientele. The Struggle Of The Civil War - 1235 Words

The Civil War was fought over states rights and slavery, and whether slavery should be expanded into the western states. The compromises of 1820 and 50 was made to maintain the amount of free and slave states in Congress. Though with Lincoln’s election the southern states seceded due to the south believing he would abolish slavery, though only 1% of the south’s population owned slaves, however, most of the south was consumed by sectionalism which caused all of them to simply believe that slavery was their way of life. Thus when Lincoln was elected the southern states seceded, with the exception of the border states. Though when the south found out about Fort Sumter and didn’t allow supplies to enter a fight broke out and the civil war†¦show more content†¦Though after finding Hooker had acted without orders Lincoln fired him. Lee discovered Hooker was in pursuit through a spy, Harrison on June 28, 1863. Hooker was fired only 3 days before the battle took place. He was replaced with General Meade. Who moved North towards Pennsylvania, keeping his troops between Lee and the Union capital. The two troops met and fought just Northwest of the town of Gettysburg. This would be where the real bloodshed would take place, thankfully it wouldn’t be as bad as Antietam. June 30, 1863, the battle was starting to quickly take rise. It started with Brig. Gen. Buford slows the rebel advancement. Which allowed him to realize the importance of the high ground. Day 1, July 1, 1863, Reinforcements had arrived, it was the 1st and 11th corps. But with the Union reinforcements, the Confederates reinforcements had come as well, General s, A.P. Hill and Richard Ewell arrived with multiple corps. The union was outnumbered 30,000 to 20,000. After the death General Reynolds, the Yankees fell back. They fell back to some hills just south of the town. The hills are now known as Cemetery Hill and Culp s Hill. Which led to the second battle at the hills, that would take place day 2 of the battle. The date was now July 2, 1863. Just before dawn general, Meade arrived with reinforcements for the Union. They form a hook shade right along Culp’s hill. This allows Meade to travel quickly while giving the Rebels a long travel distance. Characterization in ‘House of Spirits’ and ‘Perfume’ Free Essays

In the books ‘house of spirits’ and ‘Perfume’ characterization is done by giving extra ordinary abilities to the protagonist. It uses its protagonist ‘Clara’ and ‘Grenouille’ as a medium of describing the people but in ‘house of spirits’ through the eyes of ‘Alba’ and ‘Esteban’ and in ‘Perfume’ through the narrator (third person narration) as he gives the reader two aspects both contrasting each other. ‘Perfume’ a book with sense of smell aided in creating a picture the author ‘Patrick Suskind’ put forth of the character in the book. Allende uses foreshadowing as well. ‘ clara predicting the future and repetation by metioning names of people in the book over and over again. Susskind also uses foreshadowing as Grenouille has an unusall sense of smell and that whoever leaves dies the nest day. Susskind starts ‘playing with the readers’ as he keeps on contrasting waht he says about the characters in the book. He first said that Grenouie was important to the people but then he says that he was no one for them, he was not at all wanted in the world and that he again he was important as he created the world’s greatest perfume. Susskind also uses a tongue in cheek method as he laughs at Grenouie from within. He makes the readers also want to laugh. Both the methods tongue in cheek and playing with the readers are related. Susskind has portrait Grenouie in a way which goes against the church. He is insulting Jesus and the bible as well. ‘House of spirits’ and perfume have charatrized the protagonist ‘ clara’ and Grenoiue’ through magical realism and other styles. First the Americans willingly force us off of our land. Then we walk for such a long period that is filled with lots of heartache Approximately 4,500 Cherokee Indians did not survive this journey. Lastly we reach our destination. Do not believe this journey has brought my family closer together, this may b because I have lost many that were very close to me along the way. Short answer: â€Å"No.† But the long answer is pretty cool. The gastronomical word curry derives from a Tamil word for sauce, whereas, the curry in the expression â€Å"to curry favour/favor† is a verb meaning â€Å"to comb a horse.† curry (noun): A preparation of meat, fish, fruit, or vegetables, cooked with a quantity of bruised spices and turmeric, and used as a relish or flavoring, especially for dishes composed of or served with rice. Hence, a curry = a dish or stew (of rice, meat, etc.) flavored with this preparation (or with curry-powder). curry (verb): to rub down a horse with a comb. The word favor in â€Å"to curry favor† is the product of folk etymology. The original expression was â€Å"to curry Favel,† in which Favel is the name of a fictional horse. Satirical allegories featuring anthropomorphized animals were popular in the Middle Ages. The name Favel came into English from the French tale Le Roman de Fauvel, in which a horse named Fauvel parodied the hypocritical behavior of the courtiers and ecclesiastical lords of the French royal court. The horse’s name derives from his color: he’s a â€Å"fallow horse.† As an adjective, fallow refers to a pale brownish or reddish yellow color. It’s probably cognate with Latin pallere, â€Å"to be pale.† Both English and German had an idiom that may have preceded the French tale: â€Å"to ride the fallow horse.† The expression meant, â€Å"to practice duplicity.† One academic theory as to why riding a fallow horse was associated with hypocrisy is that the expression may have originated with â€Å"the pale horse† in the Apocalypse (Book of Revelation). The rider of the pale horse, â€Å"one whose name is Death,† was thought by some commentators to represent the duplicitous Antichrist. When the word Favel became meaningless to English speakers, they substituted it with the familiar word favor. In sum, to curry chicken is to cook it with curry. To curry favor is to seek to gain an advantage by means of flattery and hypocrisy. Here are some recent examples of the use of curry in the nonfood sense: Leadership PACs generally attempt to curry favor with other lawmakers, hoping to win support for legislation or other political aspirations.
